Leaving Squidility was not choice for me; it had to be done. The decision was not made over night, but rather was an inevitability that was growing inside of me. I tried to talk myself out of it, but the sooner I realized I was in denial the more confident I felt that it was time to call it a day.
So why did I leave Squidility?
When I joined Squidility, I was up for a new challenge. Things weren’t going too well at work and I had quite a bit of free time on my hands. A few months later, everything changed. My work contract drastically improved and I had a baby – two things I was totally not expecting. The impact it made on my life was huge. I ended up flooded with work and a baby who soaks up my time like a sponge. Keeping up with the work just became overwhelming. I had to get my priorities straight and make some cuts.
If you try to do everything, you’ll end up doing nothing.
What made it hard for me to leave
Squidility has great potential and I would have loved to be a part of its success. It was new and exciting for me. A whole new world for me just waiting to be explored. My co-worker, Karol Zielinski, is a great mentor and good friend of mine – he will certainly build this business with or without my help. I learnt quite a lot about something I frankly didn’t even know existed. I would have certainly continued if not for the love of my current job, teaching English.
What made is easy for me to leave
Loving my job and wanting to spend as much time as possible with my family was a big enough motive for me. Not to mention the fact that I’m totally overwhelmed with work and other duties. Although being introduced to this new digital world was exciting, I did feel like a fish out of water: I’m an English teacher, that’s what I do, I teach English. I’m an expert in my field, a big fish. I want to improve myself in that direction and not let anything else distract me. 100% engagement in teaching.
What Squidility has taught me
I’ve learnt a lot about content creation and content marketing. This will certainly be helpful for me when I decide to build my personal brand. Blogs, vlogs and good quality online content are the present and the future…
